Elimination Communication! EC is something I read about, thought about while pregnant, but Emily‘s tweets on the subject really drove me to get on it. We ordered this Baby Bjorn potty and Sebastian peed in it the very first time we sat him on it, right after a diaper change.

Sebastian's first potty!

Donny was surprised by how easy EC is and Sebastian loves being naked on his potty. We look for little signs like kicky legs and restlessness and sit him on the potty as soon as he wakes from naps or after we take off a dirty diaper. It is making me feel a lot closer to my baby to pick up on his body language so quickly and he sure seems happier not going in his diaper.

For the record, Sebastian is not quite 6 months old now and here is some more info on elimination communication if you’re interested!

Along with EC, I am also happy to have found a community of bloggers whom I love and who practice EC, baby-led weaning and otherwise exclusive breastfeeding. There are a lot of haters online and a lot of groups I don’t fit in with, so it’s great to have some moms I have things in common with.

I love coding! I know how very sad that sounds, but I could sit and code for hours. I’ve been interested in EC for a while, I learned about it with my second son, but I’ve been a little skeptical.
Severus is almost ready for BLW, I can feel it and I am so excited about the endeavor!

I’m learning some basic coding and it feels empowering! Do you plan to open a business?

I do freelance web design now but I’m looking forward to offering completely custom WordPress themes to my services! I’ve been coding HTML since I was 12 or so – It was decidedly not cool back then, but it’s paid off. :)

It’s definitely more fun to learn when you’re doing it for the purpose of designing your own site – It’s the best way to learn.
