Whether you are enjoying baby swim classes or breastfeeding on the beach this summer, the idea of slipping into a swimsuit after birthing a child can bring on a bit of anxiety. Even if you have a rockin’ post-baby body, some styles are more tasteful than others when you have a tot in tow. Luckily, many of the current swimwear trends include one-piece suits and lots of flattering details. These are my top picks for mama-friendly swimwear as well as my favorite looks in general.

This Kenneth Cole One-shoulder One-Piece sold at Victoria’s Secret has great meshing to create sex appeal while disguising any stretch marks. The one-shoulder style is on point for trendiness and also elongates the torso. Classic black is chic and slimming.

Tankinis are a popular go-to for women who are trying to lose weight. If you opt for a tankini, look for a top that is loose enough to drape away from the body. This tankini top from Old Navy has enough detail and volume on top to draw the eye away from the tummy. H&M and Target also offer affordable swim pieces that can be mixed and matched. Pick styles to flatter your body shape and remember that tops and bottoms do not have to match! Mis-matched pieces are actually very trendy right now.

The monokini is a bit more conservative and more interesting than a two piece and the cut is more forgiving than it looks – I suggest you try a few on. I love the print of this Grid Print Strapless Cut-Out suit from American Apparel.

My ultimate favorite is this Garden Zen Two-Piece. I am stalking this one on ModCloth until it comes back in stock. The halter top is flattering for arms and shoulders, and ruching on the tummy is perfect for post-baby without completely covering up. I love the floral print.
Whatever swimsuit you choose this season, remember that a few squats and a nice base tan go a long way! Happy Summer!
