A close friend and I have been talking about going to see a psychic for awhile now. The only deterrent thus far has been pricing. There is a local medium we wanted to see but her rates are much higher than I’m comfortable with, especially as an admitted nonbeliever. I have another friend who is very into astrology, tarot cards and palm reading. She definitely impresses a lot of people! I’d like to see what a psychic has to say based strictly on their first impression of me – What sort of vibes am I putting out there?

Five minutes isn’t very long, but it must be pretty good if they’re banking on that short time span to get you hooked! I love that they have an online chat option along with a traditional psychic phone service – Great for if you’re slightly embarrassed about the whole thing or just a little shy.

Fertility after 40
I’m a little bit uncomfortable even posting about infertility. Understandably, it is a very sensitive subject for many people. It isn’t something that I have dealt with personally, but I do have friends who have struggled with fertility issues and I’ve seen how frustrating and heartbreaking it can be. Many older women deal with infertility, as lowered quality of eggs and other factors come into play after age 40. The ability to conceive naturally drops dramatically around this time for good reason – There are added risks that go along with becoming pregnant later in life, with most of these pregnancies considered high-risk and monitored carefully. Still, many older women are able to maintain a perfectly healthy pregnancy and deliver a healthy child. My own mother started her family ‘late’, with my younger brother born (perfectly healthy and delivered drug-free!) when she was in her early 40′s. There are definitely pros and cons, as there are with having a baby at any age.

I know firsthand that hormone changes can majorly thwart your attempts at weight loss and keeping weight off. Changes in hormone levels while breastfeeding have made it nearly impossible for me to take off the last twenty pounds of baby weight, despite strictly monitoring calories and being more active now than I’ve ever been in my life. Menopause is another womanly milestone known for crazy hormone fluctuations. When natural estrogen levels drop during menopause, your body looks to other sources of the hormone, one of which is converting calories into fat to help meet your body’s estrogen quota. It is easy to feel ashamed and embarrassed about your failed weight loss efforts – and I personally hate making excuses – but hormones really do have a proven effect on your body’s ability to keep fat off.
