On the rack at Value Village

I have been out and away from Sebastian less than five times since he was born, partly because pumping is such a pain in the ass and partly just because he feels like an extension of me. This weekend though I left Bassie with his dad and headed out for lunch and shopping with my bestie Brittanie. We ate pho (Three bean drink! Also, next time I’m trying tripe!) then hit up Value Village and Nordstrom Rack. I picked up some cotton tank tops at The Rack and did surprisingly well at thrifting. I brought home a pair of Levis 518s – My favorite style from high school! – along with a yellow I Heart Ronson button-up. I also bought two skirts and a large blazer-style jacket because I am trying to expand my style. Before leaving the house, I spent the morning perusing and studying some fave style bloggers, drilling that inspiration into my brain. I really want to start wearing more skirts and dresses and taking my look past basics.

Thrift Haul Feb 2011

Oversize jacket & 2 skirts – I am really into florals right now and the print on the right is so my style. I’m not sure what tops I’m going to pair with these yet.

LOTD Feb 27, 2011

Didn’t wear the jacket today but this is what it looks like on. Donny thinks that I should cut out the shoulder pads – What do you think? The jeans are probably a size too big but they were only $5 – I rocked them today cuffed. I need to find a pair of jeans with the 518′s exact fit but a straight or skinny leg.

I also picked up a couple things for Sebastian – a little red sweatshirt (not pictured) and this flannel button-up (below). Perfect fit! Overall the trip was a success, although I wish I’d taken time to try on some dresses! Maybe next week.

Baby tanks from barley & birch

When I decided to get pregnant, I also made the decision to enter as many online baby giveaways as possible. I posted about the Barley & Birch tanks giveaway last month and it was the first one I won. (Second was a Hello Kitty humidifier from Welcome to the Motherhood!) I received two adorable (but not too cutesy) baby sized tank tops.

100% certified organic cotton. Made sweatshop-free in the U.S.A. Printed with water-based, toxin-free inks.

Obviously these won’t be worn for quite awhile, but the quality feels great and we love the prints. I’m definitely excited to have these as the first pieces to baby’s layette.

Win 2 Baby Tanks from Real Moms and barley & birch

Call me crazy but I am not a fan of the typical cutesy baby clothes.  I refuse to let baby’s style cramp my style, which is why I love the designs from barley & birch. Their baby clothes are simple and have a bit of a hipster feel. Their onesies, tanks and more are made in the USA using 100% certified organic cotton and water-based inks.

This wave tank is one of my favorites from the barley & birch website – I would wear this in my size!

Real Moms Real Views is hooking up one reader with two tanks from barley & birch ($30 value). To enter, comment RMRV with your favorite design from b & b. They also give you several ways to up your chances of winning (such as posting about the contest on your own blog!).
