A quick note regarding ads and sponsored posts

Sponsored/paid blog posts
If you follow this blog in a feed reader, you may have noticed several sponsored posts pop up in a row this week. I was using a plugin to keep paid posts from showing up in the feed, but unfortunately that plugin had an error in its latest version and broke my site for a moment! It was a quick fix but a lot of posts I’d excluded ended up flooding the feed at once. Along with keeping paid posts out of the feed, I do my best to minimize the amount of sponsored posts that show up on the site’s front page at a time.
At this time, sponsored posts keep this site up and running. Some (such as a 5-HTP review I posted recently) are for things I love and have experience with, whereas others are off-topic from what I usually write about on Alternative Housewife. All paid posts are tagged as “sponsored” and usually placed under “Uncategorized.” While the posts may seem random, I will never knowingly post something that is out of line with the values of this blog. I have denied offers to post about products such as Lysol and baby formula in the past and will continue to assess every paid post that is displayed here on a case by case basis.
Looking for sidebar ads!
I would love to do away with the majority of sponsored posts and keep this site running with help from like-minded blogs and businesses instead. I am now running Passionfruit for easy ad placement, or you contact me directly to have your button added to my sidebar at a great rate.
Why does a site need to be sponsored?
Obviously not all blogs have sponsors, but many are funded my advertisers like any other type of media (magazines, newspapers, etc.). For Alternative Housewife, sponsors help pay for the domain name and hosting fees. It also pays for the time necessary to work on the site design and write blog posts (versus spending that time on paying projects for other people).
Hopefully you understand that paid posts are not the primary reason for writing this blog at all, and feel free to just skip on through those bits (unless, of course, they are of interest to you)! Please don’t unfollow just because of the sponsored posts, as those will never become the bulk of this site.
