Protecting Planet Home

I know that this is a commercial (and it’s been airing for awhile now), but the first time I saw this Seventh Generation spot, I found it really inspiring. Keep in mind that just because you say goodbye to toxic chemicals doesn’t mean you can’t have a chic home. Whether your style is earthy or classic, your family can benefit from less chemicals. I am a fan of Seventh Gen and Method brand products, but I still do the majority of my cleaning with vinegar. While I care about the environment, my main motivation for natural cleaning was improving the health of my family and eliminating overpowering chemical smells. Products like Windex leave your house feeling anything but clean.

Unless you live in a hospital, ditch the harsh chems! Germs are not the enemy, people!

I love this commercial as well. I haven’t tried out any of their products yet though, are they affordable/do they work well?

They definitely work well. They can be a bit more expensive than your ‘normal’ household cleaners but it’s worth it. Paper towels and toilet paper seem to be the most costly vs. regular when it comes to ‘green’ products. I love using Seventh Gen dishwashing detergent and liquid dish soap because if something doesn’t get rinsed all the way you don’t have to worry about it (and don’t notice a soapy taste on your glasses!). Our most recent brand switch has been laundry detergent. Flowery brands smell great but then you realize that lovely “scent” is actually chemicals leeching into your skin all day. :/

I also really love Method and Mrs. Meyers brands for natural cleaning. Those brands have amazing scents available.
