Mama Style: Fall Fashion 2011
Fall is the season for fashion, and fashion bloggers. I used to write primarily about style and trends, and now that I have a kid, the pressure is on to look great and put-together. I love summer but am definitely excited to wear layers and not worry about sweating through my clothes. Here are my favorite fashion trends for fall 2011.

I am all about crisp white blouses for fall. Button-ups are breastfeeding-friendly and there are white tops to complement all bust sizes. I love this white blouse worn with a leather skirt or above paired with skinnies. They always have a zil of these in secondhand shops and I will be stocking up this season.

I also love the classic Parisian look of stripes and polka dots. They can be worn together or separate but in my opinion, polka dots are one of the easiest looks to get wrong. To avoid looking childish I recommend large dots and careful color choices. Done right, stripes also look great paired with the last of your summer florals. Chunky tights and cardigans can easily stretch your warm-weather wardrobe through December.

Ponchos are a casual trend that I am really loving for this fall. Go with something loose and flowy for morning coffee or wear a more slim fitting poncho to replace the traditional blazer. I am a big fan of prints like the one above (H&M).
Burnt colors are a big trend for fall 2011. Colors like mustard yellow are perfect for transitioning from summer to fall and add a pop of color to your autumn neutrals. Think the rust shades of falling leaves.

One especially edgy look I’m dying to try is sheer maxi dresses. I would love to wear one over a slip or tank dress like this.
I also love leather harnesses and similar styles as statement accessories – They remind me of the so-loved studded belts that were a staple of my high school wardrobe.
What are your fashion picks for this fall? If you have a child, how has motherhood changed your style (for better or for worse)?

I wish we had fall
I mean, we can still follow fall trends but I wish we had the proper weather for it.
On a related note, one of my BFFs is an intern for refinery29! So proud of her.
Oh, I’m jealous! I really like Refinery29, more than other similar publications.
I used to ONLY LOVE SUMMER but now I really appreciate the seasons. I love hibernating in my apartment and I love boots!
