Home Inspiration: Offbeat-Chic
Spotted this living room photo on the Refinery 29 blog and became taken with artist Francesca DiMattio’s “offbeat-chic” decorating style. Her house appears cozy and quirky but still put-together, something I strive for in my own home.
Notes on what I love in this photo:
- White walls show there is more to interior design than paint color, and gives me hope for a super chic apartment.
- Flowers all around. Having fresh flowers in your home is an easy way to fight depression and improve your mood throughout the day.
- Mix of modern and vintage-looking pieces. Letting electronics become part of the design rather than trying to hide them.
- Animal rug – Gorgeous, and looks so cozy. Area rugs (even over carpet) add great texture and comfort to a room. Not a huge fan of the deer head, but I’m a little bit obsessed with antlers in design, especially antler chandeliers.
- Animal print, and stripes throughout the room.
- Seating by the window, keeps the home feeling connected to the outside world, secure without being isolated.
I also really like her Chloé shoes.

Ooh – I love it. Even though the walls are white it doesn’t look plain whatsoever.
My dad has a bunch of deer antlers you can have.
