I was just at a belt sushi place for the 1st time on Monday. I don't know the name of it, but it's at Mall 205 (in the same section as McMenamins and Newport Bay). I'm not much for sushi really, but it's hard not to go "Oooh, what's that? Grab it for me." with everything passing by you constantly.

I ate Cali rolls for years before I ever tried the 'real' stuff. My dad would bring them home and I happily devoured them, but it wasn't until later that I had the experience of a sushi restaurant. The belt style is really great for trying new things. It can be hard to tell what you'll like just by looking at a menu, and I find ordering foods I'm unfamiliar with to be a bit intimidating, especially if I am unsure of the correct pronunciation. It's much easier to spot a plate that looks appetizing and quickly slip it onto your table. :) If you try something new and end up loving it, you can get the name of it (from the menu or by asking a server) and order it again.

I realize I mentioned what Sebastian likes to eat but left out my picks. I personally love salmon nigiri (raw salmon on rice), spicy crab rolls, and Dragon Rolls (rolls filled with raw tuna and topped with a piece of eel and a dab or sriracha sauce). I sometimes finish with a roll filled with fruit (usually strawberry and mango) but my favorite dessert is green tea or red bean flavored ice cream. So good!

I have had sushi once. I really liked it... but I had california rolls, which I guess are super american. So I have been too afraid to try sushi again. I have never heard of sushi on a conveyor belt. It sounds like a reallly great way to try sushi!

First, I just wanna say you are SO pretty in that first pic! And Sebastian is adorable, as always.

Second, I hate that Jackson doesn't like sushi. Maybe I need to keep trying. He really hates rice, so maybe I need to stop getting him rolls and try different things. I wish we had a sushi belt around us. Mostly we just have Chinese/Japanese restaurants that also serve sushi, not specific sushi restaurants.

I wrote that post in response to an article that got under my skin - I have nothing against taking your time to lose the baby weight. In fact, my son is 16 months old and I still have 20 pounds or so I would like to drop. I also understand that the post-partum body may never be the same, and I embrace that. I doubt I will ever fit into my pre-baby jeans and that's fine! I love that my hips are wider and find myself in a full-on love affair with my new breasts. That said, not dropping the majority of weight you gain while pregnant can make your next pregnancy more difficult and create a snowball effect if you have more than one child, which is why I am working to drop it before I become pregnant again. :)

I am super jealous that you lost so much through breastfeeding, I must say. I'm sure you put a lot more work into it as well, but I am still breastfeeding and still having more trouble losing weight than I did before having my child. Not sure if it's hormones or just my new lifestyle but it's been a challenge!

I am the woman that you linked the mother's body article too- and I want to tell you- that my size had nothing to do with it. We live in a society where we are falsely led to believe that once we push a baby out, the baby weight is no longer necessary.. We believe that breastfeeding baby- the weight will come right off- well, it is COMPLETELY true-- but women simply aren't breastfeeding long enough for the full effects. (breastfeeding past 6 months- as the weight tends to stay there until 6 months- to ensure that body is producing quality milk, and that baby is getting plenty of that nourishment)

That photo of my post partum body was still carrying baby weight. I was definitely not in shape before getting pregnant- and gained roughly 27-30 pounds while pregnant- breastfeeding alone I have lost the full pregnancy weight plus 45 pounds. I suddenly down to sizes that I have never been.

My point of the photo was to embrace this transition and babymoon- of focusing on my child rather than my body. of seeing what is important right now- and all of that extra weight went right into producing lovely milk. Had I been spending post partum time worrying about the size of my jeans- I wouldn't have been able to be so fully wrapped up in the love that I was with my daughter. How depressing to spend this magical time with your new baby worrying about calories?!

First of all, thanks for reading and commenting! Congratulations on your pregnancy, and on your awesome decision to breastfeed exclusively!

If you feel more comfortable nursing with a cover, do it. They make some really cute ones and whatever keeps you breastfeeding is a priceless tool! That said, using a cover is a personal choice and not something that all moms (including myself) choose to use. I really can't see how the sight of a breast would make anyone lose their appetite, especially with a cute baby attached. Mothers have the right to nurse their babies in public places with or without a cover and if someone doesn't like that, they are free to look away. :)

I agree with you on almost all of this! I'm 36 weeks pregnant and plan on exclusivly breastfeeding. I don't think a mother should be asked to nurse somewhere else, but if you're in a restraunt I don't want to be trying to eat and a woman just pull out her bare breast to nurse for all to see. I bought a nursing cover. I can still look down and see my baby but no one around me can see my breast.
