Alternative Housewife – Mama style on a budget

Alternative Housewife is a Portland-based family, fashion and lifestyle blog.

Alternative Housewife is Janine Fowler. I am mama to Sebastian, born September 2010. My husband Donny and I are twenty-somethings who opted to start a family now, while both parents will be at home full time. I work from home and Donny is on dialysis and currently receiving disability. (Yes, he will get a new kidney eventually, but for now he is tolerating dialysis well and we are focused on our son.) Money can be tight, which is what inspires many of the blog posts here. Regardless of income, I believe in shopping secondhand and sustainably. Great style is achievable on any budget!
