Zen to Fitness: Natural Alternatives to Sunscreen I never wear sunscreen and will probably not put it on my baby (I know, gasp!). Here’s some reasons why, and some natural ways to maintain healthy skin. (Thanks to Katy for this link)
Code Name: Mama: 5 Tips to Help Kids Develop Healthy Eating Habits “It always floors me when I hear a mother griping that her child eats too many sweets (or juice or whatever). Here’s the thing: your child doesn’t do the grocery shopping alone. She probably doesn’t spend any money on groceries either.” This.
Things I Want Now – July 2010

The past few weeks I have wanted fro yo all day every day. I think that frozen yogurt has replaced my salmon nigiri (sushi) obsession, and I felt myself getting upset browsing Google images for soft serve fro yo after midnight. The difference between a normal craving and a pregnancy craving is that a preg craving makes you so upset you could literally cry or break something because you don’t get a specific item right now. The yogurt I like best (and is most conveniently located) is from TCBY. If it was organic I would probably actually eat it daily.

I have also been obsessed with Asian dessert drinks – namely, Che Ba Mau (Three Bean Dessert) and Bubble Tea. I’d have these everyday if there was anywhere to get them in Gresham. I should just stock up on ingredients and do them at home. Although looking up Che Ba Mau showed it was over 1000 calories… I don’t even want to know how many cals are in my beloved milk tea.

I just thrifted a rad leopard print cardigan and I’m really into light outwear like this leopard baggy beach jumper from wildfox couture. Yes, I know it would not look like that on me, especially with my belly and now-full Cs.
We go camping the first week of August, and it’s cold in a tent near the coast, so my eye is out for warm & comfy sweaters and pullovers. I almost bought an oversized poncho-sweater this week with a huge dragon on the front (yeah, hipster) but sadly it was itchy. That said, I have totally discovered the nearby Salvation Army – The prices and selection are everything that Goodwill used to be. Amaze. I even came home with two fabulous nightstands (banged up but solid wood and drawers in perfect, clean condition) for under $40.

I think I may have hit that ‘nesting’ stage, but surprisingly I am happily motivated to tackle home projects, shopping and decorating, but not at all overwhelmed (yet). Our home is in need of more art but I am pretty picky. I do want this Blogs and Coffee Print, which would look great above the dining table I often sit at with my laptop.

The last thing I am super craving – booze & cloves – A case of wanting what you can’t have + I’m missing out on my usual summer traditions. It isn’t as though I even drink or smoke often, but not being able to do it at all kills.
What are you fiending for this month?

28 Weeks Pregnant
I have only done a couple of pregnancy updates because I think they’re kind of boring if you aren’t pregnant yourself, but I am in my third trimester now and this doubles as a Look of the Day post. After an extra month of winter weather, yesterday was close to 100 degrees so I spent the day in a bikini. (The top is from a Roxy suit, with severely sun-bleached bottoms from Old Navy. ON flip-flops and sunglasses from Goodwill.)
Un-Photoshopped because I really believe being pregnant makes you stop giving a fuck. I’ll be starting up with my Nivea Good-Bye Cellulite gel again (I swear by it) but I honestly think that most of the lumps and bumps is preggo water retention.
According to March of Dimes, you gain around 3 pounds of blood and 4 pounds of water during pregnancy. You also gain approximately 2 lbs in your breasts although, tragically, you can’t see that in the photos. My breasts have also been leaking colostrum lately, which makes me feel really womanly. I’m totally pumped on the idea of breastfeeding, pardon the pun.
If you click and enlarge the photos you can see my turquoise nail polish. I think it’s fair to say I’m obsessed with shades of turquoise. I bought a teal-ish Sag Harbor handbag last month even though I’m expecting a Matt and Nat bag in the mail this week. I am constantly eyeing turquoise jewelry. The polish I’m wearing here is Sinful Colors Rise & Shine. It has some sparkle to it but the color itself is more matte than shiny. It goes on a bit sloppily but the color is pretty gorgeous and the bottle cost all of $2 at Walgreens.
In actual Baby news, we are definitely decided on the name Sebastian. Little Zebby is a major mover and this week we realized he moves even more to music. We’ve been strapping my belly with headphones and exposing him to New Radicals and my Rise Against station on Pandora. I wonder if he’ll be just as active once he’s born – Can’t wait to meet my little Asian!
