Best Natural Body Lotions

03-21-2010 ** Categories: Product Reviews / Tags: , ,

Yes to Carrots is hands-down my favorite brand of moisturizer (and shampoo!). Their Hand and Elbow Moisturizing Cream is a fast-acting lifesaver, and the light, natural scent of their products lasts all day. Yes to Carrots formulas are built on fruits and vegetables and Dead Sea minerals and are Paraben Free. There really isn’t much to say about their products other than to try them. You can purchase Yes to Carrots bath and beauty products at Walgreens. I was originally sent some products to review and have since made many trips back to the drugstore to purchase more.

I recently ordered the Best of Bump Box Sampler from The Spoiled Mama and I am obsessed. The company makes luxe organic products for Pregnancy, Postpartum, Baby and Breastfeeding, although many of their products (Body Creme, Sugar Scrubs, even teas) would be just as great for non-mamas. While a bit spendy, the products I purchased are extremely decadent. I especially like the Bump Gloss, designed to prevent stretchmarks.

Roundup of my favorite articles from this week

Oranges and Apples: Sustainable Fashion: Thinking About Speed There’s more to sustainable style than just buying investment pieces. This article talks about energy use you may not have thought of and moving fashion forward.

Bachman’s Sparrow: Get Roped in This Trendy Necklace DIY One of my fave DIYs in awhile by my favorite upcoming blogger.

The Fashionable Bambino: VOGUE Gisele Bundchen Her post-baby body is no fluke. As she points out, “I think a lot of people get pregnant and decide they can turn into garbage disposals.”

ASU News: Ads With Plus-Size Models Unlikely to Work For most women, looking at photos of plus size models is more damaging to self-esteem than browsing pages of skinny models. “The same premise could apply to using heavy images in public service announcements aimed at fighting the obesity epidemic.”

Pregnant with a Little Peanut (10-12 Weeks)

03-14-2010 ** Categories: Baby / Tags:

Here is my formal announcement: I’m pregnant. On Friday I had my 10-week appointment, although my doctor suspects I may be closer to 12 or 13 weeks, and we heard the heartbeat. Overall I’m a fan of pregnancy. I’ve lost a few pounds in my first trimester (normal) and actually falling asleep the moment I get in bed is amazing. I’m hoping my pudgy belly bump will magically transform into a cute volleyball.

There are plenty of graphic, detailed pregnancy blogs out there, but I intend to focus on the cute parts of pregnancy through baby. For instance, the fetching pink paper gown I’m wearing above!

Win 2 Baby Tanks from Real Moms and barley & birch

Call me crazy but I am not a fan of the typical cutesy baby clothes.  I refuse to let baby’s style cramp my style, which is why I love the designs from barley & birch. Their baby clothes are simple and have a bit of a hipster feel. Their onesies, tanks and more are made in the USA using 100% certified organic cotton and water-based inks.

This wave tank is one of my favorites from the barley & birch website – I would wear this in my size!

Real Moms Real Views is hooking up one reader with two tanks from barley & birch ($30 value). To enter, comment RMRV with your favorite design from b & b. They also give you several ways to up your chances of winning (such as posting about the contest on your own blog!).
