I have a penis inside me!

Apr 12, 2010 1:01 PM / 12 Comments

This morning was my first ultrasound. Normally I would have had to wait until the anatomy scan at around 20 weeks, but there was some question about exactly when we conceived so my OB scheduled an appointment to date the pregnancy. As my doctor and I had guessed, I’m right at 16 weeks, meaning I basically got knocked up my first try. The result is this adorable thing:

While we weren’t expecting to see the gender at this appointment, it was definitely in the back of our minds. We were more than happy with watching the tech measure the baby and hearing the heartbeat again. Lucky for us, Baby was all too excited to show us his goods. At first it wasn’t entirely clear, but after I walked around for a minute he flipped over to give us a better view.

We could not be more excited, and seeing his features on the screen – the appointment seemed to go on forever and pinpointed everything from his hands and feet to the chambers of his heart -  definitely made the entire experience much more real.

Unfortunately, we don’t have any boy names so much as brainstormed.

Aww awesome! I can’t wait to hear what you name him :D

  2. Chelsea Rae says:

Oh my, he’s a boy. Haha. You must be so excited. Congrats!

  3. Christine says:

Wow, how exciting for the both of you!! I can’t wait to hear the names you two think up. And the title for this post made me seriously LULZ. Also, I can’t believe I gave Choke a C either. I think I tried to be generous because I loved the book so much…I need to get tougher, haha.

  4. Maria says:

<3, so where are you registered at, hmm?!!

    • J says:

The registry is at http://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/baby/30910QQCJP6WU. <3 I’m still adding to it but it has 50 items or so at the moment. I’m hoping to get a lot of stuff secondhand, including most clothing and a crib/bassinet – Even if other people are buying it for us, I can’t justify spending money on things we’ll use for less than a year. Not to mention thrifting and swapping baby items is so much more green. ;)

Wooo I’m so happy for you guys! Hope all things goes well for you and that you’re having an easy pregnancy. <3

  6. Aww, congratulations! How exciting for you two! I will have to send you his first pair of DC’s when he’s born! We make the most adorable little crib shoes! xo

  7. Crystal says:

Congrats! Boy names are hard…it seems like they’re all very common. Are you showing very much? There’s a girl at my work who is three months and her belly has grown a lot, but I think it’s because she may be overeating.

  8. Britney says:

Congrats! I’ve never seen an ultrasound that apparent before. At least there is no mistaking it. :P I know someone who recently had a baby boy, but all through her pregnancy she thought she was having a girl (because that’s what the ultrasound tech said).
